Find the steam traps that are wasting money.
TrapScout is a field tool for steam systems. Survey every trap in a plant, see what each failure costs in lb/hr and dollars per year, and hand your client a professional PDF report.

Why it matters
One failed trap can waste thousands a year.
A trap stuck open blows live steam straight into the condensate return. TrapScout turns each failure into a dollar figure, so the case for repairs makes itself.
Steam trap surveys
Built for the walk through the plant.
Big buttons, one-tap status, and the numbers right where you need them.
Record a trap in one tap
Pick Good, Blow-through, Leaking, Plugged/Cold or Flooded. The steam loss and yearly cost appear the moment you tap.
- Loss in lb/hr and $/yr from orifice size, pressure and your plant's steam cost
- Plugged and flooded traps flagged as process and safety risks
- Results saved with the steam cost and hours used, so old reports never change

Fix the costliest traps first
The repair list ranks every failed trap by dollars per year, so maintenance time goes where it pays back fastest.
- Organize by site, area and the plant's own tag numbers
- See which areas lose the most steam
- Compare this year's survey with last year's (Contractor)

Snap & Survey: tap a tag, open the trap
Attach an NFC tag or a printed QR label to each trap on the first survey. Every survey after that is a quick scan.
- Hold an iPhone to the tag to jump straight to the trap's page
- Print QR labels on standard label sheets for iPads and missing chips
- Pick brand, model and pressure rating to fill in the orifice size from the built-in trap model database
- Tags hold only a link with the trap's ID, never plant data

FAQ
Common questions
Where is my survey data stored?
On your device, and in your own private iCloud account if you turn on sync. We can't see it. See the privacy policy.
Do I need NFC tags?
No. You can find traps by the plant's existing tag numbers or by printed QR labels. NFC tags just make repeat surveys faster. NTAG213 or NTAG215 hang tags rated for the trap's temperature work best.
How are the losses calculated?
Steam loss through the trap's orifice is estimated from its size and the line pressure, multiplied by a failure factor you can edit, then priced with your plant's steam cost and operating hours. Every result has a Show work section with the formula and assumptions.
Does it work without a signal?
Yes. Everything works offline, including reports. Sync happens through iCloud when a connection is available.
Can I try it before buying?
Yes. The calculators are free, the free plan includes one survey with up to 10 traps, and Pro and Contractor include a 14-day free trial.
